HIGHLIGHTS

Terminal imports 80,000 mt from Sabine Pass

Centrica supplies under a 15-year agreement

The Puerto Cortes LNG terminal in Honduras has received its first major cargo, data from S&P Global Commodities at Sea and S&P Global Energy CERA showed.

The Centrica-chartered carrier, Gaslog Windsor, moored at the terminal on Aug. 7 after loading a cargo from the Sabine Pass LNG export facility on Aug. 2, according to CAS data.

The terminal's operator, Genesis Energias, had previously confirmed the scheduled date of the first delivery, which would be provided under a long-term supply agreement with Centrica. Genesis Energias also said the volumes would enable the neighboring Brassavola power plant to operate continuously on natural gas, with diesel generation kept only as a backup.

A Centrica spokesperson confirmed that the volumes on the Gaslog Windsor would be sourced from Centrica's portfolio, without providing further details.

Centrica Energy signed a 15-year sale and purchase agreement with trading agency Exodus in 2025 to supply LNG to the Puerto Cortés facility. Exodus is Genesis Energías' commercial partner.

The SPA entails the delivery of about six LNG cargoes per year to Exodus through a ship-to-ship operation into the floating storage unit Bilbao Knutsen, Centrica previously said.

The import operation for the first major cargo was completed on Aug. 8, according to a source familiar with the matter. Another source close to the matter said around 20,000 cubic meters of LNG were delivered.

CERA data showed the terminal imported around 80,000 mt of LNG.

The Puerto Cortes terminal had previously imported around 7,500 cubic meters of LNG to commission the terminal's floating storage unit, Genesis Energias previously said.

Those small LNG volumes for the commissioning were not supplied by Centrica but by an undisclosed company, a source close to the situation said previously.

The Gaslog Windsor appears to still be laden, according to its indicated draught, CAS data showed. The carrier was voyaging off the southernmost coast of Florida on Aug. 10, with Rotterdam in the Netherlands listed as its next destination, the data showed. The carrier is scheduled to arrive in the Netherlands on Aug. 21.

Platts assessed the FOB Gulf Coast Marker at $19.25/million British thermal units Aug. 10, up $1.87/MMBtu day over day.
