US polymer producer Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA ended the Force Majeure declaration on polypropylene products produced at its La Porte, Texas, petrochemical complex, according to a letter sent to its customers Aug. 26 and seen by S&P Global Platts Aug. 27.
The complex has been under force majeure for copolymer polypropylene products since Dec. 17.
The company previously said the restart of the unit was on schedule for Feb. 6.
It had also said earlier that it expects to be back to normal production in early-April.
The plant has nameplate capacity totaling 1.15 million mt/year of polypropylene, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics data.
The company was not available for comment Aug. 27.
Platts last assessed homopolymer PP at $2,976-$2,998/mt, flat on the day Aug. 26 and assessed the copolymer PP grade at $3,020-$3,042/mt, Aug. 25, up $44/mt on the week based on talk of a 2-cent premium to homopolymer grades.
