Ricardo is a Director in the Houston office of S&P Global Energy Energy practice, having previously been based in London, UK and Dubai, UAE. At S&P Global Energy, Ricardo provides research and consulting services to energy companies, financial institutions, and government agencies. He has +15 years of varied and practical experience having worked in 30+ countries, 5 continents, and 50+ projects, helping clients make real world decisions and plan for an uncertain future. He recently managed the delivery of a strategic report on Refinery and Petrochemical integration. His varied experience includes developing projects from initial conceptualization to execution for refineries and petrochemical projects. This includes acting as a Market and Technical advisor for Project Sponsors and/or lenders, transactions for M&A Due Diligence, and as a Strategy advisor helping clients plan their Projects. Ricardo initially started his career with UOP. While with UOP he was a team member of the Research and Development group assisting in technology improvement and development. He then joined UOP Field Operating Services advising clients on engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, and testing of UOP licensed process units worldwide. He then joined Purvin & Gertz before being acquired by S&P Global Energy.
Ricardo has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Mr. Esposito spent six years in New York City brokering crude and refined products futures and options on behalf of global oil companies and international financial institutions prior to joining IHS Markit. Currently his focus is leveraging his experience in the financial markets to provide thorough analysis of liquid bulk commodity markets including crude, diesel, fuel oil, gasoline, jet fuel, LPG, and naphtha. Trade flow intelligence, freight markets, and underlying physical trading contribute to a complete assessment. The focus of research lies within fundamentals to develop supply and demand balance models, while delivering concise insight of the refining industry, maritime trade routes, and geopolitical affairs. He holds a B.S. from James Madison University.

Nikolay Filchev, a associate director in the Global Gas team at S&P Global Energy, is an expert in North American natural gas markets with a focus on regional dynamics and exports.
Nikolay has nearly ten years of experience doing energy research at S&P Global Energy. He currently focuses on market fundamentals for the US Gulf Coast and Southeast regions and follows developments with regards to LNG and exports to Mexico. He has also covered the Lower Mid-Continent and the Rockies regions. He has managed or contributed to many applied consulting assignments covering natural gas procurement strategies for industrial, electric and liquefied natural gas end-users, storage value drivers, interstate pipeline systems' competitiveness, scenarios and others.
When he began his S&P Global career, Nikolay was responsible for residential, commercial, and industrial gas demand modeling for the US Lower 48 and Canada. Before joining S&P Global he worked for the economic consulting company LECG, where he performed econometric, statistical, and financial analysis and industry research in support of expert witness reports and testimony. Nikolay holds a BA from Occidental College and an MA from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Douglas Giuffre, Senior Director at S&P Global Energy, leads the North American Power Markets Analysis team.
Douglas has more than 15 years of energy industry experience, with expertise in supply and demand forecasting, demand response, and capacity markets. He is the lead author of the Northeast Power Market Briefing, PJM Power Market Briefing, and North American Power Market Outlook. Prior to joining S&P Global, Douglas was a research economist at the Beacon Hill Institute, where he specialized in regulatory policy issues, including tax incentives for renewable energy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree from Suffolk University, United States.

Shiva Gupta is a director of oil markets and downstream refining at S&P Global Energy.
Shiva manages marine industry fuel demand for the Annual Strategic Workbook and focuses on alternative fuels and clean tech investment across the downstream industries. He provides consulting support for refinery assets and supply, including trade. He joined the company in 2012 and, since that time, has provided research and analysis and published weekly and monthly reports for the petrochemical group. Prior to joining S&P Global, Shiva held process engineering and business development roles at Lummus Technology and was manager of operation at Reliance Industries Limited.
Shiva holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India, and an MBA from Management Development Institute, India. He is based in southern California, United States.

Yanyu has been working in the energy industry in Houston since 2001, covering various markets and areas of expertise. Prior to joining S&P Global Energy in 2014, he spent five years at The Boston Consulting Group and played a key role in the firm's North American energy market research, focusing on unconventional oil and gas and NGL markets. Yanyu also spent four years at Direct Energy, with responsibilities including risk management, market fundamentals research, and natural gas trading strategy.
Yanyu holds a Doctorate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and an undergraduate degree from Tsinghua University.

Veeral Mehta leads the US natural gas liquids (NGLs) research practice at S&P Global Energy and is responsible for research focusing on NGL market fundamentals, pricing, trade, and infrastructure.
Veeral joined S&P Global S&P Global Energy in July 2014 and since then has been providing consulting services to private-equity firms, financial institutions, operating companies with their investment decisions related to oil, natural gas, NGL assets, and market outlooks. Prior to joining S&P Global, he was an optimization manager at eSimulation, Inc. where he supported several major midstream clients with their single gas plant optimization and provided strategic solutions pertaining to contract negotiations, asset drop downs, and profitability improvements for their multi-gas plant systems.

Wolfgang is a director with the Climate and Sustainability team at S&P Global Energy, with 15 years of progressive experience across the energy value chain. He leads S&P Global Energy North American natural gas market modeling/analytics. Wolfgang is one of the main contributors to the long-term natural gas market message, integrating the interplay between domestic demand and supply developments with the ever more important export markets. Projects have included modeling cash flows from proposed infrastructure investments; gas procurement strategies; due diligence for power, industrial, and LNG facilities; and, pipeline competitiveness. His expertise includes energy modeling, infrastructure, market fundamentals, strategy, and risk management processes. Previously, Wolfgang focused on global LNG and led the Global LNG Value Chain and Markets service. His research focused on emerging strategic trends, LNG supply, and LNG price developments.

Recently, he has focused on the financial constraints to production and the implications for future supply as the industry wrestles to identify its role in global production. Prior to joining S&P Global Energy, he served in the strategy and finance department of a US independent producer.

Carlos Pascual leads the integration of geopolitics, energy, and markets for S&P Global Energy. He works with clients globally on addressing the geopolitical challenges of energy transition, security and competitiveness -- and the implications for energy justice. Mr. Pascual also leads the coordination of S&P Global Energy businesses in Latin America.
Mr. Pascual was previously US Ambassador to both Mexico and Ukraine and was Special Assistant to the US president for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia on the National Security Council. As the former US Energy Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the State Department, Mr. Pascual established and directed the Energy Resources Bureau and served as the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State on energy issues.
Earlier, Mr. Pascual created the position of Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization in the State Department, establishing the first civilian response capacity to conflicts. Mr. Pascual is a distinguished fellow at the Atlantic Council and was a resident fellow at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Master of Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
