Platts proposes to launch two Ammonium Sulfate CFR Brazil assessments, change methodology of existing AS CFR Brazil range assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch two weekly price assessments for ammonium sulfate delivered to Brazil, CFR Brazil North-Northeast and CFR Brazil South-Southeast, effective Sept. 4, 2025.

The proposed assessment would capture market activity in Brazil's different regions and complement Platts' existing coverage of the AS market in the country.

The proposed assessments would have the following specifications:

Assessment Name: Ammonium Sulfate CFR Brazil SSE

  • Quality: 21% N, compacted/granular ammonium sulfate
  • Quantity: 5,000-10,000 mt
  • Basis and location: CFR Paranaguá, Paraná
  • Timing: Delivered between seven and 40 days from the date of publication
  • Frequency: Weekly (Thursdays)
  • Appears in: Nitrogen Market Report
  • Unit of assessment: $/mt
  • Timestamp: 16:30 São Paulo, following the São Paulo publishing calendar

Assessment Name: Ammonium Sulfate CFR Brazil NNE

  • Quality: 21% N, compacted/granular ammonium sulfate
  • Quantity: 5,000-10,000 mt
  • Basis and location: CFR Aratu, Bahia
  • Timing: Delivered between seven and 40 days from the date of publication
  • Frequency: Weekly (Thursdays)
  • Appears in: Nitrogen Market Report
  • Unit of assessment: $/mt
  • Timestamp: 16:30 São Paulo, following the São Paulo publishing calendar

The weekly price assessments would be published as a single "close" value to a 16:30 São Paulo timestamp and follow the São Paulo publishing calendar.

Alignment of weekly range assessment methodology

Additionally, Platts proposes to align the specifications of the weekly range for Ammonium Sulfate (21% N) Caprolactam Compacted/Granular CFR Brazil $/mt Wkly (FASCG04), effective Sept. 4, 2025.

Following the proposed change, the assessment would reflect the lowest and highest values published from the proposed AS CFR Brazil SSE and NNE assessments. For example, if CFR Brazil SSE is assessed at $300/mt for a week and CFR Brazil NNE is assessed at $350/mt, Ammonium Sulfate (21% N) CFR Brazil $/mt Wkly (FASCG04) would be assessed at $300-350/mt.

Its specifications would also be amended to reflect those of the input assessments.

The updated specifications for the Ammonium Sulfate (21% N) Caprolactam Compacted/Granular CFR Brazil $/mt Wkly (FASCG04) are as follows:
