Platts to review Indonesian thermal coal export assessment specifications

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is launching a market consultation seeking feedback on its methodology for assessing the value of thermal coal exported from Indonesia, basis FOB Kalimantan.

Specifically, Platts will be reviewing the specifications, both typical and range, for sulfur, ash and moisture content of its FOB Kalimantan price assessments for the following thermal coal grades:

FOB Kalimantan 3,400 GAR (THCOK00)

FOB Kalimantan 4,200 GAR (CSBKI00)

FOB Kalimantan 3,800 GAR (CSCKJ00)

FOB Kalimantan 5,000 GAR (CSAKI00)

FOB Kalimantan 5,900 GAR (CSAKH00)

More broadly, Platts would also like to take this opportunity to consult the market on the loading periods of the aforementioned grades.
