How it Works
Forecast
Our Economic Forecast Monitor service provides detailed 30-year annual economic and financial forecasts for more than 200 countries and all major regional and political aggregates. For more than 100 countries, 3-year forecasts for key quarterly and monthly indicators are available enabling critical short-, medium-, and long-term planning. Forecasts are updated every month for these countries and quarterly for all others.
We employ a rigorous forecasting methodology to provide robust forecasts which align across all S&P Global data products:
- Top down: Outlook for global drivers such as commodity prices
- Country level: Quantitative and qualitative analysis from our vast team of country economists and risk analysts
- Bottom-up: Industry-level forecasts provided by our class-leading industry practices
Monitor
Our forecasts are based on our own historical data ensuring end-to-end consistency. Economic Forecast Monitor includes our World Market Monitor historical dataset ensuring that you can follow daily data releases across the globe between our monthly and quarterly forecast updates. World Market Monitor features same-day updates and:
- Harmonized concepts – Series selected for international consistency allowing cross-country comparison
- Long, spliced history for modelling (adding back history removed by the source)
- Underlying data are locally-sourced where appropriate to provide more timely standardized data than published by international institutions
- Pre-calculated commonly-used ratios and GDP shares
- Standardized mnemonics and attributes
- Shared mnemonics and taxonomy across Forecast and Monitor data

Annual macroeconomic forecasts are provided across all major concepts for 206 countries and include long histories and a 30-year forecast horizon. For over 100 countries, 3-year forecasts are included for key quarterly and monthly indicators. Forecasts are updated every month for these countries and quarterly for all others.
Wider coverage is provided for historical data series and includes same-day updates from local sources.
