Jeremy Smith is a senior economist covering the Latin America and Caribbean region at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Jeremy is a senior economist with the global economics service at S&P Global Market Intelligence. In this role he performs macroeconomic forecasting and sovereign risk assessments for a portfolio of ten countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. He regularly authors written analysis and in-depth reports on economic developments around the region.

Prior to joining S&P Global, Jeremy was a James C. Gaither Junior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC, where his research focused on trade and technology tensions between the United States and mainland China as well as China's evolving role in the global economy. His writings have appeared in publications such as Foreign Policy magazine, The National Interest, and South China Morning Post.

Jeremy graduated magna cum laude from Williams College, United States, with majors in Economics and Chinese. He speaks English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.
