Alejandra León

Research and Analysis Associate Director, EPTC

Alejandra León, is an associate director of research and analysis at S&P Global Commodity Insights, specializes in the Latin American oil and gas upstream market and in refined products analysis.

An expert in international trade and industrial policy, she is a regular contributor to the Latin America Upstream analysis. She evaluates crude and refined product price policy and trends in Latin America countries regarding fiscal revenue, investment opportunities, and policy changes. Alejandra contributed to the scenario storylines for Latin America oil and refined products markets for Global Energy Scenarios to 2040 including an integrated political-economic energy analysis. She has evaluated diverse upstream projects for economic viability, included Gulf of Mexico deep-water development, gas opportunities in Brazil's Parnaiba Basin and Venezuelan extra-heavy oil, among others. She has collaborated in country-specific oil and gas production outlooks, including necessary capital investments and transportation infrastructure. Recently, Alejandra has participated on the evaluation of emerging upstream opportunities in Mexico, including geological evaluation, terms and conditions of the contracts, regulation, project's economics, and above ground risks. Before joining the company, Alejandra collaborated on various studies in the public and private sectors in Mexico and developed particular expertise in economic, social, and statistical analysis.

Alejandra holds a degree from the National University of Mexico.
