Habit Restaurants profit misses consensus by 26.7% in fiscal Q3

Habit Restaurants Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Sept. 27 came to 4 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 6 cents per share.

EPS rose 36.4% year over year from 3 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $791,750, an increase of 81.9% from $435,250 in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 1.1% from 0.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 22.6% on an annual basis to $71.9 million from $58.6 million, and total operating expenses increased 24.4% on an annual basis to $69.3 million from $55.7 million.

Reported net income fell 23.8% from the prior-year period to $734,170, or 4 cents per share, from $963,410, or 7 cents per share.
