8minutenergy wins PPA approval for 90-MW Calif. solar farm

8minutenergy Renewables will move forward with the development of a 90-MW AC solar farm in California after securing approval for a power purchase agreement, according to a Feb. 1 company statement.

Under a 30-year PPA, the Springbok 3 Solar solar project in Kern County, Calif., will provide power to the Southern California Public Power Authority on behalf of its participating member, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Springbok 3, which is expected to come online in 2019, is one of the three projects of 8minutenergy at the site. The first two projects, the 105-MW AC Springbok 1 and the 155-MW AC Springbok 2, became operational in 2016. The output of the two operating units is under contract to the LADWP and Southern California Public Power Authority.
