CSS Industries Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was $1.19 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.15 per share.
EPS increased 16.0% year over year from $1.03.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $11.0 million, an increase of 14.0% from $9.7 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 9.9% from 9.1% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 5.1% on an annual basis to $111.5 million from $106.1 million, and total operating expenses climbed year over year to $93.8 million from $90.6 million.
Reported net income rose 14.2% on an annual basis to $11.3 million, or $1.22 per share, from $9.9 million, or $1.05 per share.
