Astral Foods fiscal H2 profit climbs YOY

Astral Foods Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second half ended Sept. 30 came to 8.81 rand per share, a gain from 3.91 rand per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 340.9 million rand, an increase from 149.8 million rand in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 12.4% year over year to 5.51 billion rand from 4.90 billion rand, and total operating expenses grew 6.9% year over year to 4.97 billion rand from 4.65 billion rand.

Reported net income grew year over year to 391.8 million rand, or 10.12 rand per share, from 194.4 million rand, or 5.08 rand per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 17.53 rand per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 19.28 rand.

EPS rose from 7.25 rand in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 678.8 million rand, a gain from 276.8 million rand in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue rose 17.3% year over year to 11.27 billion rand from 9.60 billion rand, and total operating expenses grew 11.3% year over year to 10.17 billion rand from 9.13 billion rand.

The company said reported net income increased year over year to 778.2 million rand, or 20.09 rand per share, in the full year, from 337.5 million rand, or 8.84 rand per share.

As of Nov. 11, US$1 was equivalent to 14.20 rand.
