Engie wins 25 PV projects in French solar auction

Engie SA won 230 MW of utility-scale projects out of the 710-MW awarded in the fourth round of French solar auction. Overall, Engie won nearly 550 MW in the country's latest auction.

In total, the French government selected 103 large-scale solar projects, with average price bids of €58.2/MWh, which is 5% lower than during the previous auction period. The larger plants, ranging from 5 MWp to 30 MWp, proposed an average price of €52/MWh — the lowest price recorded in France for solar power stations.

Of the 103 large-scale facilities, Engie secured contracts for 25 photovoltaic projects, with an average price of €52.1/MWh, the French utility said announced Aug. 7.

The bidding was part of a series of auctions that will award 3,000 MW of solar projects in six rounds. The last two rounds will be for 850 MW of capacity each.

Engie has installed 1,000 MW of solar capacity in France.
