The Tennessee Valley Authority on March 20 announced that John Ryder was officially sworn in as a board member of the agency for a term expiring May 18, 2021.
He was nominated by President Donald Trump on Jan. 18, and the nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Feb. 28. Ryder most recently served as general counsel for the Republican National Committee, as well as a bankruptcy and election law attorney with the Harris Shelton law firm in Memphis.
Ryder fills one of the two vacancies on TVA's nine-member board of directors and will join the other members on the board's next meeting on May 9. William Kilbride has been nominated to fill the remaining position on the TVA board and awaits Senate confirmation.
