Eurozone construction output declines in January

Seasonally adjusted production in euro area's construction sector fell by 2.2% in January 2018 from December 2017 because of a 3.1% decline in building construction and a 0.9% decrease in civil engineering, according to data compiled by Eurostat.

France, Sweden and the U.K. posted the largest decreases in construction on a monthly basis.

On a year-over-year basis, production in the construction sector increased by 3.7% in January because of a 9.3% rise in civil engineering and a 2.0% increase in building construction, Eurostat said. Spain and the U.K. reported decreases in construction from a year earlier.
