Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten Inc. said Oct. 5 that its recipe site Rakuten Recipe will have a built-in verbal food suggestion service starting mid-October.
The service will recognize voice commands through Alphabet Inc. unit Google Inc.'s Google Assistant artificial intelligence technology. Through it, users can say "OK Google, open Rakuten Recipe" along with a keyword, such as an ingredient, on their Google Assistant-enabled devices and the service will verbally suggest popular dishes related to the keyword.
Additionally, Rakuten's online bookstore Rakuten Books will begin selling Google Home, a voice-activated speaker that comes equipped with Google Assistant, from Oct. 6.
