Deutsche Telekom AG remains in talks with France's Orange SA and Romanian operator RCS&RDS/Digi over the sale of Telekom Romania Communications SA, Telecompaper reported, citing sources mentioned by Ziarul Financiar.
The German operator reportedly hired consultants and lawyers to look into the potential transaction. A Deutsche Telekom board member recently presented the sale plans for Telekom Romania to Romanian government officials. The newly installed Romanian government has yet to approve the deal, though the previous Romanian government approved Deutsche Telekom's plan to sell its approximately 54% stake in Telekom Romania to Orange.
Deutsche Telekom indirectly owns Telekom Romania through its stake in Greek operator Cosmote SA.
