Discovery commissions 16 new shows in Asia

Discovery Networks Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. commissioned 16 new locally produced shows in Southeast Asia, Variety reported.

The Discovery Communications Inc. unit ordered "You Have Been Warned Asia," which looks into the science underlying various experiments. The show is being produced by Jesuit Communications Foundation.

Fishing show "Bangkok Hooker" is produced by Singaporean InFocus Asia. "Worst Vacation Ever" features Filipino celebrity brothers Troy and KC Montero who seek out holiday anecdotes. It is produced by Montero Productions.

Discovery Networks Asia Pacific also greenlighted series like "Frontier Borneo," which follows environment protection workers and explorers on the island of Borneo. Beach House Pictures and Kyanite TV are producing the show. "Surviving Borneo" features Henry Golding, a local TV host, who is trying to discover his tribal roots. Malaysian Matavia Reka is producing "Surviving Borneo," according to the report. "Say Yes to the Dress" will be locally produced and launched for Asia on TLC. It will be produced by Apollo Global Management LLC's Endemol Shine.

The shows will air on TLC and Discovery Channel on linear and digital platforms, according to the Feb. 1 report.
