Independent power producer sPower signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for 105 MW from its Antelope Expansion 2 photovoltaic solar facility with MCE, a community choice aggregation program in Lancaster, Calif.

The solar facility is expected to start commercial operations in late 2018 and will serve Marin County, Napa County and the cities of Benicia, El Cerrito, Lafayette, Richmond, San Pablo and Walnut Creek, according to a Dec. 8 news release.

The company estimates a construction crew of 300 to 400 workers who will install more than 300,000 solar panels that, when fully operational, will provide power to more than 23,000 homes. The modules will be mounted on a single-axis tracking system to capture energy efficiently.
