Mitsubishi closes purchase of 80-MW Texas wind farm

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Inc. completed its acquisition of the 80-MW Llano Estacado Wind Ranch in Carson County, Texas, from a subsidiary of Blue Marlin Energy Holdings LLC.

The facility's power contract with Xcel Energy Inc. unit Southwestern Public Service Co. expired Dec. 31, 2016, and all the facility's wholesale sales of electric energy will continue at market-based rates.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America is a subsidiary of Tokyo-headquartered Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Blue Marlin is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Olympus Power LLC, a privately owned independent power company.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the transaction Sept. 13. (FERC docket EC18-128)
