Coca-Cola Amatil switches to sustainable sugar

Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd. said Feb. 27 that only sustainably-accredited sugar is used in all its nonalcoholic beverages in Australia.

The Australia-based bottler and retailer of Coca-Cola Co. products said its sugar contracts until 2021 are comprised of Bonsucro- and Smartcane Best Management Practice-certified sugar.

In June 2018, Coca-Cola Amatil and Coca-Cola South Pacific Pty. Ltd. announced plans to reduce the sugar content in their nonalcoholic offerings by 20% by 2025.
