Freeport-McMoRan Inc. has resumed normal operations at its Grasberg copper-gold mine in Indonesia after resolving a 10-day labor dispute with a worker union at the mine, Reuters reported Oct. 9, citing a company spokesman.
PT Freeport Indonesia spokesman Riza Pratama said the company and representatives of the PT Freeport Indonesia Chemical, Energy and Mining Workers Union reached a settlement to end the work stoppage at the Grasberg open-pit mine.
Earlier in October, workers demanding better working conditions, including bonus payments, put open-pit operations on hold during an ongoing strike at Grasberg.
