Data from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement released Oct. 15 shows Gulf of Mexico oil and natural gas production that had been shut-in due to Hurricane Michael continues to improve, with an estimated 198,000 barrels of oil per day and 168 MMcf/d of gas still offline.
This is about 11.7% of daily oil output and 6.6% of gas production in the Gulf of Mexico, down from 15.8% and 8.9%, respectively, on Oct. 14 and down from 32.4% and 13.05%, respectively, on Oct. 12.
Based on data from offshore operator reports from six companies, personnel have returned to all 687 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
