Enbridge wraps C$4.31B sale of Canadian gas gathering, processing assets

Enbridge Inc. completed the sale of the federally regulated portion its natural gas gathering and processing business in British Columbia to Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP, marking the closing of the C$4.31 billion deal announced in July 2018.

The transaction involved the company's Canadian gathering and processing business, which included 19 provincially and federally regulated natural gas processing plants and 3,550 kilometers of natural gas gathering pipelines in British Columbia and Alberta.

Under Brookfield's ownership, the G&P business has been named NorthRiver Midstream Inc., according to a Dec. 31, 2019, release.

Additionally, Enbridge received about C$8 billion from previously announced noncore asset sales, to focus its business on low-risk pipeline and utility assets, as well as to strengthen its balance sheet and provide additional financial flexibility.
