Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index inched up 0.2% to 102.5 in August from the previous month, lower than the preliminary estimate of a 0.7% increase, revised data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.
Shipments in August climbed 1.7% from the prior month, revised from a 2.1% gain; inventories dipped 0.4%; and the inventory ratio fell 2.1%, revised from a 2.2% drop.
The original industrial production index was up 0.2% to 97.3 from the year-ago period, revised from a 0.6% rise.
