IlukaResources Ltd.'s total mineral sands production for the Junequarter has been dragged lower year over year by weaker rutile, syntheticrutile and ilmenite production.
Total mineral sands output fell to 265,300 tonnes from304,800 tonnes in the same quarter of 2015, the July 14 production reportshowed.
Quarterly rutile production declined to 31,400 tonnes from35,900 tonnes a year earlier, synthetic rutile production slumped to 49,800tonnes from 55,800 tonnes and ilmenite production dropped to 82,800 tonnes from115,500 tonnes.
The declining output was only partially offset by anincrease in zircon output to 101,300 tonnes in the second quarter from 97,600tonnes in the June quarter of 2015.
Mineral sands revenue for the quarter, however, increasedmarginally to A$236.4 million from A$234.4 million despite lower production anda A$110 decrease in revenue per tonne of zircon, rutile and synthetic rutilesold.
Iluka is also on track to meet its full-year productiontarget of 660,000 tonnes of zircon, rutile and synthetic rutile, with outputfor the first six months of the year increasing 20.8% year over year to 334,400tonnes.
