Update: Charter, NBCU resolve carriage dispute

Comcast Corp. unit NBCUniversal Media LLC said it has signed a comprehensive carriage deal with Charter Communications Inc.

An NBCU spokesman confirmed that the parties reached a deal earlier this week. The pact, terms of which were not disclosed, encompasses stations owned by NBC (US) and Telemundo (US), entertainment networks, including USA (US) and Bravo (US), news channels MSNBC (US) and CNBC (US), and national sports network, NBCSN (US).

Additionally, the pact covers four regional sports networks, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (US), Comcast SportsNet Northwest (US), Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic (US) and Comcast SportsNet New England (US), reaching customers in Charter's footprint.

The parties had faced contract expiration at midnight on Jan. 1, but all of the properties remained on Charter systems through an extension forged on Dec. 31, 2016.

Charter, which last year became the nation's third-largest distributor through its acquisitions of Time Warner Cable Inc. and Bright House Networks LLC, did not respond to queries seeking comment.
