Williams-Sonoma fiscal Q3 profit climbs 5.5% YOY

Williams-Sonoma Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 1 came to 75 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 72 cents per share.

EPS climbed 9.1% year over year from 69 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $69.0 million, an increase of 5.5% from $65.4 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 5.6% from 5.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 7.8% year over year to $1.23 billion from $1.14 billion, and total operating expenses increased 8.0% from the prior-year period to $1.12 billion from $1.04 billion.

Reported net income increased 9.5% from the prior-year period to $70.7 million, or 77 cents per share, from $64.5 million, or 68 cents per share.
