Syco Entertainment inks Chinese coproduction deal

Star China Media Corp. unit Canxing Production struck a codevelopment deal with Syco Entertainment, the production company owned by Simon Cowell, Variety reported Dec. 19.

Under the three-year agreement, the two companies will coproduce TV formats targeted for the Chinese market that will also be sold internationally.

Canxing produces Chinese talent shows such as "Sing! China" and "So You Think You Can Dance." Syco is a joint venture between Cowell and Sony Music UK. It coproduces the "Got Talent" format and "The X Factor" with FremantleMedia Ltd.
