Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. created a new business group for its cloud computing and artificial intelligence divisions, TechNode reported, citing financial news outlet Yicai.
The change signifies that the cloud and AI segments have become a priority for Huawei, meaning the segments will receive more resources and support from the company, according to the report. The new business group is an addition to the company's three existing business groups: carrier, consumer and enterprise.
The move is also regarded as being in line with Huawei's "Cloud Only" strategy, in which the Chinese telecom-equipment maker pledged to invest more resources to build a full-stack cloud platform.
The development follows the company's decision to implement changes to its organizational structure ahead of what is expected to be a difficult year.
