General Motors to invest $24M in Indiana assembly plant

General Motors Co. said May 30 the company plans to invest $24 million in its Fort Wayne assembly plant in Indiana to boost the production of new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups.

The Michigan-based automaker will also enhance the plant's conveyors and other tooling to support the increased production.

General Motors expects to complete the plant upgrade this summer. The company has invested more than $1.2 billion in the Fort Wayne facility since 2015.
