Japan Tobacco Inc. reported a 4.7% year-over-year decline in domestic cigarette revenue in November to ¥37.3 billion from ¥39.2 billion a year ago.
The Tokyo-based cigarette manufacturer said Dec. 18 that it sold 5.8 billion cigarettes in November, down 4.8% from 6.1 billion cigarettes sold a year ago.
Year-to-date, the company's domestic cigarette sales were down 2.1% to ¥443.7 billion from ¥453.1 billion in 2018. From January to November, the company sold 69 billion cigarettes, a decline of 8.2% year over year.
Japan Tobacco's market share for November was 59.1%.
In October, Japan Tobacco's domestic cigarette sales rose 18.5% year over year.
