Hyundai Wia profit misses consensus by 89.6% in Q4

HYUNDAI WIA Corp. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter came to 388.45 South Korean won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 3,748.18 won per share.

EPS declined 89.6% year over year from 3,727.77 won.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 10.32 billion won, a decline of 89.5% from 97.98 billion won in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 0.5% from 4.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose on an annual basis to 2.076 trillion won from 1.987 trillion won, and total operating expenses climbed from the prior-year period to 1.950 trillion won from 1.864 trillion won.

Reported net income declined 96.9% on an annual basis to 3.41 billion won, or 128.49 won per share, from 111.00 billion won, or 4,223.46 won per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 10,847.38 won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 15,616.54 won.

EPS declined 22.8% from 14,050.08 won in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 288.13 billion won, a fall of 20.7% from 363.45 billion won in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue increased on an annual basis to 7.884 trillion won from 7.596 trillion won, and total operating expenses increased on an annual basis to 7.384 trillion won from 7.070 trillion won.

The company said reported net income declined 24.8% on an annual basis to 326.87 billion won, or 12,306.17 won per share, in the full year, from 434.43 billion won, or 16,794.00 won per share.

As of March 10, US$1 was equivalent to 1,203.54 South Korean won.
