Poland's Polkomtel announces 5G commercial launch in 7 cities

Polish telecom network Plus will launch its 5G network in seven cities May 11.

The Polkomtel Sp. z o.o.-operated telco will switch on the commercial 5G network in Warsaw, Gdansk, Katowice, Lodz, Poznan, Szczecin and Wroclaw, using a network of about 100 transporters and spectrum from the 2.6 GHz TDD frequency band.

Polkomtel is also constructing over 600 additional 5G stations in preparation for the second stage of 5G rollout, which will provide coverage for the whole of Warsaw and the surrounding area.

Cyfrowy Polsat SA owns Polkomtel.
