Top 10 US pro sports teams, 2025

Six of the top 10 professional sports teams selected by our US survey respondents were NFL teams, along with three NBA teams and one MLB team, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence Kagan's US MediaCensus online consumer survey, conducted in the third quarter of 2025. Respondents to the survey were asked about the sports leagues watched in their households, and which teams they were fans of across the National Football League Inc., Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association Inc., National Hockey League LP, Major League Soccer LLC, WNBA Enterprises, LLC and National Womens Soccer League LLC.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL claimed the top two spots among total respondents, narrowly edging out the Los Angeles Lakers for third place. The other NBA teams to make the top 10 were the Golden State Warriors (7th) and the Boston Celtics (10th). The New York Yankees were the only MLB team to make the top 10, taking the fifth spot.

The next MLB team was the Chicago Cubs, which ranked 15th most popular overall. The Indiana Fever was the most popular WNBA franchise, at 17th overall. The most popular NHL team was the Chicago Blackhawks, just ahead of the Boston Bruins, at 48th and 49th overall. The 74th most popular franchise was the highest MLS team in the rankings, Inter Miami CF. Among the NWSL, the Chicago Red Stars was the most popular team, followed by the Kansas City Current and the NY/NJ Gotham FC.
