Managing Director, Sector Specialist
Thomas Watters is a managing director and sector specialist within the Commodities team at S&P Global Ratings. Tom has served as the team leader for the North American oil and gas analytical teams, and regularly speaks to broadcast, print and online media on trends in the industry. Prior to this role, Tom served as the team leader for the metals & mining, paper & forestry and building materials industry teams in New York.
Before joining S&P Global in 1997 as a metals and mining analyst, Tom held positions as a middle-market account officer for Chemical Bank and a senior security analyst for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, following the oil and gas, paper & forestry, and metals and mining industries.
Tom holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Banking and Corporate Finance from Hofstra University.

Head of Middle East and North Africa Economic Forecasting Teams, Economics & Country Risk
Ralf is Head of S&P Global Market Intelligence Middle East and Northern Africa economic forecasting team. Aside from the regional economic overview, he is covering and presenting on Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Iraq in particular. Prior to that, he has held a number of positions at S&P Global Market Intelligence and preceding companies, including in the Economics and Country Risk (ECR) consulting team, and in the European economic forecasting team. He joined the company in 2004.
Ralf is a German national. He has a Ph.D. degree in economics from Potsdam University, where he graduated in 2002. He earned a Master degree (Diplom) in 1997 from the same university. He is fluent in German (mother tongue) and English and has proficient knowledge of Russian and French.
Among the projects he was working on prior to joining the MENA team, a landmark study for a German industry consortium featured that examined the linkage between energy costs, competitiveness and growth for Germany.
Ralf was chief economic adviser for the National Energy Strategy study which S&P Global Market Intelligence conducted for the Oman Public Authority of Electricity and Water. He also worked on national energy strategies with other government clients in similar roles.

Head of Supply Chain Research
Chris's team produces data-driven supply chain research based on S&P Global Market Intelligence's Supply Chain Console platform. The team's reports cover corporate supply chain decision-making, the implications of government policy and the interface between physical and financial supply chain risks. The research product leverages S&P Global Market Intelligence's data and analytics across the supply chain, international trade, economics, risk management and financial products groups.
Chris is also responsible for coordinating supply chain coverage across S&P Global's various insight groups and represents the firm in presentations, demos, trainings and webinars with customers and other external stakeholders. Before joining S&P Global, Chris was a supply chain analyst for 10 years and an energy analyst for 15 years at a range of information services, financial and logistics firms.
Chris has a BSc in Development Economics & Operational Research from the University of Lancaster.

Noel Maken joined S&P Global Market Intelligence in 2022. He is a Credit Product Specialist and works closely with Commercial and Product teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions that empower clients to effectively assess and manage counterparty risk. Leveraging his expertise in credit risk methodologies, data analytics, and technology, Noel helps clients streamline their risk assessment processes and make informed decisions using advanced credit models and cutting-edge technology.
