Enel begins work on 150-MW DC solar facility

Enel SpAhas begun work on the 150-MW DC Aurora solar project through its subsidiaryEnel Green Power North AmericaInc., according to a May 5 news release. The Minnesota-basedproject represents an investment of $290 million, of which $140 million isprovided by the State Street Bank and Trust Co.

Aurora, which represents 16 photovoltaic plants in total,will sell its power to XcelEnergy Inc. once it comes online by the end of 2016 and will beowned by Enel Green Power subsidiary AuroraDistributed Solar LLC, according to a May 5 statement.

Aurora will help push Enel's total installed capacity in thestate to 380 MW.
