Thai mobile operator AIS faces a government fine of around$71,000 per day for refusing to release 300,000 subscribers to TrueMove,another of Thailand's mobile operators, TelecomAsia reported May 9.
Thailand's National Broadcasting and TelecommunicationsCommission issued a written warning to AIS to complete the handover under themobile portability system by May 10 or be fined 2.5 million Thai baht per day.
TelecomAsia cited a report by Thai-language newspaper Thai Rath that said AIS has refused torelease the subscribers to TrueMove on the grounds of incomplete or erroneousdocumentation.
As of May 9, US$1 wasequivalent to 35.18 Thai baht.
