S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a rundown of recent board changes in the U.S. technology, media and telecommunications industries.
* Steve Harvey Global, the company founded by entertainer and producer Steve Harvey, will have a seat on Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp.'s board. The news comes after Anthem purchased a majority interest in HDNet LLC, the parent company of AXS TV (US) and HDNet Movies (US). Harvey will join as an investor and will also enter into a strategic agreement for content development and promotion of Anthem's portfolio of channels.
Anthem's board will also include Ted Goldthorpe, head of BC Partners Credit, a lead financier on the acquisition; Rick Ehrman, a former senior executive at Univision Communications Inc.; Robert Foster, founder and CEO of Capital Canada Ltd.; Scott Honour, founding principal of Northern Pacific Group LP; and Loudon Owen, chairman and CEO of DLT Labs Inc.
* Falfurrias Capital Partners LP partner Joe Price and principal Geordie Pierson will join Industry Dive Inc.'s board after the private equity firm agreed to buy a majority stake in the Washington, D.C.-based company. Industry Dive provides business news, original analysis and other information products and services across 19 different industries, including banking, supply chain, retail and waste.
* Vonage Holdings Corp. appointed Priscilla Hung an independent director of the company. Hung is COO of Guidewire Software Inc., where she oversees the company's worldwide operations, including product development, security, cloud operations and customer support. Hung joins nine additional Vonage directors, eight of whom are also independent, the company said.
* NTN Buzztime Inc. named director Gregg Thomas its new chairman as part of a board revamp that took effect Aug. 30. Thomas will chair the board's audit committee, as well as sit on the nominating and corporate governance/compensation committee. He replaced Jeff Berg, who will remain on NTN Buzztime's board. The company also appointed Morgan Kingston Advisors partner Susan Miller as a director. Miller, who will join the audit committee, took over from Paul Yanover who stepped down voluntarily. The board changes are intended to "strengthen the board profile, create new energy and bring new and relevant industry experience," Berg said.
* Michael Donovan, who stepped down as CEO of DHX Media Ltd., also stepped down as executive chairman but will continue on the board as founding chair, the company said Aug. 30. The company named Eric Ellenbogen CEO and vice chairman of the board. DHX Media named Donald Wright nonexecutive chair.
* Cloudflare Inc. added two new members to the company's board: Katrin Suder and Mark Anderson. Suder is the chair of the German Digital Council, a position she was assigned by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her cabinet in 2018. Anderson is chief growth officer at Anaplan Inc. Prior to this role, he was president of Palo Alto Networks Inc., the company said.
