NextEnergy Solar Fund energizes UK's largest subsidy-free solar plant

NextEnergy Solar Fund Ltd. energized the U.K.'s largest subsidy-free solar plant, Staughton, with an installed capacity of 50 megawatt peak, which is expected to cover the yearly electricity demand of about 15,000 households.

The milestone increases the company's overall portfolio of operating solar plants to 755 MWp spread among 90 individual solar plants.

The electricity generated by Staughton will be bundled into NextEnergy Solar Fund's portfolio of generating plants and sold under sales contracts already in place, according to a Dec. 16 news release.

The company has started preparing the site of its next subsidy-free solar plant, High Garrett, for construction. Completion is expected during the first half of 2020.
