JCP&L energizes NJ transmission line

FirstEnergy Corp. subsidiary Jersey Central Power & Light Co. has completed the $124 million Oceanview Reinforcement Project in Monmouth County, N.J.

The project included a 16-mile, 230-kV transmission line built along existing right-of-way with steel pole construction to connect substations in the towns of Howell and Neptune.

Additionally, an existing 230-kV transmission line connecting substations in the towns of Colts Neck and Neptune was rebuilt using steel poles.

This is the second project that JCP&L has completed in recent weeks. A new transmission line connecting substations in the Eatontown area was energized in May, the company said June 6.

The project is part of the utility's plan to invest $359 million during this year to enhance reliability across its service area.
