KPN denies eyeing foreign acquisitions

KPN NV has denied reports it is interested in any foreign takeovers, saying that its M&A strategy is focused on "small in-country acquisitions."

The operator said its supervisory board "fully supports" the company's strategy to "further strengthen its position in the Dutch market."

KPN was responding to a Reuters report, citing Bloomberg News, that the telco's incoming CEO could aim for Belgium's Proximus or Danish operator TDC A/S.

In October, KPN named former WIND Telecomunicazioni SpA CEO Maximo Ibarra as its new chief executive, effective April 18, 2018. He will succeed Eelco Blok, who is stepping down during next year's annual general meeting of KPN shareholders.
