4 more states opt in to AT&T's FirstNet as deadline approaches

Four more states — Delaware, Massachusetts, North Dakota and Connecticut — accepted the nationwide public-safety broadband network deployment plan offered by the First Responder Network Authority and AT&T Inc.

AT&T, in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, or FirstNet, is offering a wireless broadband communications network for the states' public safety communities.

Colorado, Illinois, South Dakota and Wisconsin also recently decided to join FirstNet. As of Dec. 22, 45 states and territories have opted in, while the rest have until Dec. 28 to make a decision.
