Wal-Mart de México SAB de CV's consolidated sales in September jumped 9% year over year to 48.22 billion Mexican pesos, according to an Oct. 4 release.
The Mexican arm of U.S. retail giant Walmart Inc. said total sales in Mexico rose 8.4% year over year to 39.35 billion pesos from 36.31 billion pesos. Comparable store sales for the retail month increased 6.9% from September 2017.
Meanwhile, Walmex's total sales in Central America soared 12.1% year over year to 8.88 billion pesos from 7.92 billion pesos. On a constant-currency basis, comparable store sales in the region climbed 4%.
The retailer opened five new stores in Mexico and four in Central America in September, while it added one store each in Mexico and Central America in October.
As of Oct. 4, US$1 was equivalent to 19.15 Mexican pesos.
