Frenchauthorities asked Switzerland to reveal the identity of French clients holding overCHF11 billion in more than 45,000 accounts, LeParisien reported Sept. 26.
French taxauthorities reportedly claim that they could be owed several billion euros ofthose funds. They have already identified the holders of 4,782 accounts but arestill trying to figure out who the other 40,379 accounts belong to, Le Parisien said.
The Frenchdata request, whichUBS heavily criticized, was issued based on information receivedfrom German authorities and relates to current and former clients of the lenderwho resided in France between 2006 and 2008, the French newspaper added.
