U.S. hotels recorded positive performance for the week ended Dec. 17, according to STR data.
Year over year, revenue per available room rose 9.7% to $60.31, and the average daily rate rose 4.8% to end the week at $111.59. Occupancy grew 4.7% to 54.0%.
New York saw the largest rise in ADR of the top 25 U.S. markets, adding 13.1% to $277.33. Washington, D.C.-Md.-Va., recorded the highest RevPAR increase, with a 34.6% gain to $85.31, and the highest occupancy increase, a 20.2% rise to 62.1%.
Oahu Island, Hawaii, saw RevPAR decrease 19.6% to $163.59, the largest decrease. The market also recorded the largest decrease in ADR, which fell 4.9% to $212.16, and reported the steepest decline in occupancy, dropping 15.4% to 77.1%.
