Enish Q1 loss narrows YOY

enishinc. said its normalized net income for the first quarter came to a loss of ¥3.74 per share, compared with a loss of ¥13.60 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥26.9 million, compared with a loss of ¥94.4 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to negative 2.1% from negative 6.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue decreased 16.4% year over year to ¥1.27 billion from ¥1.52 billion, and total operating expenses fell 21.4% on an annual basis to ¥1.31 billion from ¥1.67 billion.

Reported net income totaled a loss of ¥43.0 million, or a loss of ¥5.98 per share, compared to a loss of ¥107.0 million, or a loss of ¥15.42 per share, in the prior-year period.

As of May 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥109.14.
