Total U.S. nuclear plant availability took a smallstep forward early Sept. 22 to 89.73%, up from 89.66% on Sept. 21 and alsoabove the 88.23% level reported on the same day a year ago.
Providing total U.S. production with a boost wasincreased output at EntergyCorp.'s FitzPatrick plant in New York. The unit was operating at88% early Sept. 22, rising from 54% on Sept. 21.
Conversely, NextEra Energy Inc.'s Duane Arnold Energy Center in Iowasaw production curtailed to 76% early Sept. 22, down from 92% on Sept. 21.
Looking ahead, private sources note that unit 1 ofEntergy's Arkansas Nuclear One in Arkansas may be idled in the next few daysfor planned seasonal work. As of early Sept. 22, the unit was at 84%.
