ABB overhauls executive committee

Claudio Facchin, Frank Duggan and Chunyuan Gu will leave Switzerland-based ABB Ltd.'s executive committee, effective Dec. 31, as part of an organizational overhaul.

The roles of president of the power grids unit and regional presidents will be suspended.

Facchin will continue to head ABB's power grids business as a stand-alone business before its planned sale to Hitachi Ltd. is completed in the first half of 2020.

Duggan will step down as president of Europe but will be appointed to the Hitachi ABB Power Grids board. Gu will step down as president of the Asia, Middle East and Africa region but will stay on as chairman of the ABB China Ltd. board.

Both will continue as advisers to the company.

ABB's new executive committee, as of Jan. 1, 2020, will comprise CEO Peter Voser, Tarak Mehta, Peter Terwiesch, Morten Wierod, Sami Atiya, CFO Timo Ihamuotila, Sylvia Hill and General Counsel Maria Varsellona.
