Report: Shell to complete coker upgrades at La. refinery by mid-August

Upgrades at the coker unit at Royal Dutch Shell PLC's 225,300 barrel per day refinery in Norco, La., are nearly complete and should be wrapped up by Aug. 15, according to an Aug. 9 Reuters article, citing sources familiar with plant operations.

The 25,000 bbl/d coker was idled about a month ago for the work. It remains unclear when the coker will return to operation, but the article said a gas olefins unit that was also shut at Shell's chemical plant adjacent to the Norco refinery is slated to restart before the coker returns.
